Glamorous, sophisticated, sensual, athletic, mysterious..Call it what you want, we call her the 007 girl! Amanda Wong introduces herself with her great wit, singular character, and classy style is more in line with the Bond girl than what we imagined of her normal characterisation. Let’s see what she has to say..
ST: Amanda tell us, what is your secret behind your Mission from God “Beautiful Adieu”?
It actually all started off as just a mash-up of two words I liked when I was 13. Slowly, it kept reminding me that everything in life is temporary and that we should treasure the transience of these moments before we gracefully bid them goodbye. Beautiful Adieu just reminds me to invest myself in things I’m genuinely passionate about. The beautiful thing about it is that it could mean a totally different thing to you too.
ST: If your blog had a mission statement, what would it be?
Hmm, I’m not sure, but I do hope it inspires people to choose a path of their own in life, and not to conform to societal norms. This is a belief that I truly embody. Be your own person!
ST: Your daily motto?
I’m alive, I’m the best, and I will make it!
ST: How would you describe your style?
A: If there’s one thing, I’m definitely nowhere near ‘girly’. I don’t have the exact word for it, so I’ll say I’m a mix of minimal, edgy, androgynous, and sometimes the elegant/feminine. Oh and if you ask me what colours make up my wardrobe? Black, Grey, White and Navy. I’m pretty much a boring (or rather, safe) person with fashion.
ST:Who inspires your wardrobe and why?
Let’s be frank – my bank account.
ST: Who are your favourite designers?
I LOVEEEE Balenciaga for both, their clothes and bags. They compliment me in terms of both my style, and personality. I also love Ellie Saab for their gowns; I’m dying to get married in one!
ST: Which Hollywood actress do you love the most in terms of style?
It’s got to be Nicole Richie, although, I’m not sure if you would call her an actress? I’ve been following her since I was maybe, 15? She’s so effortless when she’s dressed down for the gym, any other regular day, or all glammed up for an event. Now that she’s a mom, her style has matured and I think that it’s very inspiring watching someone else’s style grow along with them. Oh, and Nicole’s also the reason why I got a Balenciaga City as my first designer bag when I was 21. #trendy
ST: What is your most extravagant purchase?
A: I wouldn’t call any of my recent purchases extravagant since I (try to) make sure they’re within my means, but let’s recount back to when I was 16. I was trying on this pretty silk and chiffon top from Ted Baker and I was like, oh my god I have to get this. Spun around to check the price tag in the mirror and I mistook it for $166. Brought it to the counter only to realise it was $199. :O Out of my huge ego, I just paid and left (still a little shocked), but that’s the story of my extravagant little top that’s still sitting in my wardrobe today just because it’s still so pretty to me, and I can’t bear to throw it away. (laughs)
ST: What are your hobbies?
A: I actually like staying home because I’m out almost every other day for work and appointments. So when I do get the chance, I usually like to get all artsy by practising silly calligraphy writings or doing some (amateur) watercolour paintings.
ST: What are your personal favorite Blogs/Instagrammers?
A: I love following Nicole Warne (@garypeppergirl) and Carin Olsson (@parisinfourmonths) because they have such lovely feeds, and also because I’m your typical Paris-lover. Although I don’t follow Margaret Zhang (@maragaret__zhang), I think she has a great blog (superb writing and photography)! Oh I was also recently introduced to Toni Tran’s blog, Fashitects (www.fashitects.com), and I love the effort that he puts into each post as well as the direction and vision he has.
ST: If you had 3 wishes from the Ginni of Aladdin, what would they be?
A: ONE: to grant all my wishes no matter how absurd or demanding. TWO: to give me unlimited wishes for a lifetime. THREE: I would free Ginni (So no one would ever have another three wishes, mwahahahaha)
ST: Tell us something funny that not many would know about you
A: I have a talent with vulgarities? I’m secretly a man? No wait, I’m a joke.
ST: One word that best describes you
ST: Something to say to the world:
A: I’ve always been thankful for all your kind words and support throughout, even though I’ve been so bad with social media at times! Remember to keep fighting for what you want in life because after all, you only die once. Make it count!
